Filipino Martial Arts (FMA)

The Bladed Mind is a modern look into the traditional form of Filipino Martial Arts, with a simplified approach to the teaching and understanding of the art known as Kali. We encourage students to explore what they are taught and make it more than what they are shown. Through theory and principle, a better understanding and application of the fighting art is then realized. Training begins with basic strikes, delivery to targets and mobility. Our primary goal is to teach the student to learn for themselves. We supply them with the tools and concepts of using those tools. We believe it’s really up to the student to develop their own sense of style or fight.
This is a great introduction to basic weight training. You will become familiar with exercises for each muscle group, such as chest, back, shoulders, biceps, triceps, calves, hamstrings, buttocks, quadriceps, abdominals. Workout includes: Warm-up, a timed series of rounds that include all the muscle groups, abdominal training, cool down.
Olympic Style Weightlifting, the Snatch and the Clean & Jerk, are taught and coached by Jim Schmitz. Jim was the official Weightlifting Coach for the United States Olympic Team in 1980, 1988 and 1992. This program is great for basic conditioning as well as for cross-training with other sports.
Yoga offers physical health, relief from stress, peaceful mind, and relaxation to the body. This class includes Iyengar and Gentle Vinyasa Flow focusing on safe and proper alignment of postures, integrating harmony of breath, body and spirit.
Boxing / Muay Thai
This class introduces the basic fundamentals and principles of boxing, at the same time working on general cardio fitness for a challenging workout. Workout includes: Cardio fitness, abdominal training, speed bag, double-ended bag, heavy bag, combination mitt training, developing boxing skills.
This traditional Japanese-style Judo class incorporates patience, calmness, endurance and coordination with the basic Judo techniques and forms. Workout includes: Meditation, warm-up, various forms (katas), cool down.
Dance your way to fitness in one of the most exciting exercise programs in fitness today. In this dance cardio class you will learn basic movements for Salsa, Meringue, Bachata, Samba and Afro-Cuban in a continuous format to achieve a mid to high level intensity aerobic workout. Workout includes: Warm-up, various dance steps, short dance combinations, stretching, abdominal training, cool down.
